Welcome to my series ‘This Love Month...’ in which I embrace February as the month of love and valentines in tiny, heart-shaped doses.

I’ve never been one to embrace Valentine’s Day by wearing red – whether top to toe, or combined with black/white/any other shade.  I always thought of it as an either/or situation: you’re either in or you’re out.  And I was usually out!  This year I challenged myself to have some fun with it, to be creative and incorporate the ultimate symbol of love – the heart- into my look.

What better way to start with the hearts than with that which leads straight to mine: shoes!  When I saw these gold and red sequinned pumps on the shelves I knew that it would be taken for a spin once, maybe twice a year at most.  Yet I still had to have it.  I put it down and went about my business, coming back to the shoes every 10 minutes – fitting it on, examining it from all angles.  I decided not to buy it and walked away.  Problem was, the shoes were in eyesight of the checkout line... and clearly we know how this story ends.

I love my impractical yet cheeky, fits me like a glove while killing my calves, pumps.  I love seeing them on my shoe shelves every day.  I love the message they send: “Yeah, I wear my heart on my shoes!”
